Oxford County has released the 2013 annual report.
OXFORD COUNTY- The 2013 Oxford County annual report has been released in a new interactive online format.
The report includes an info graphic that breaks down where your county tax dollars are being spent. Road work topped the list at $252 for the average household.* (The pdf is located at the bottom of this page.)
Oxford County Chief Administrative Officer Peter Crockett said even more improvements have been made over last year.
"We started in 2013 with a revamp of our 2012 annual report and it continues on this year. It's a much more interactive, accessible type of annual report than your typical printed volume."
The more accessible report is one of the ways the county is aligning it's strategic priority to have a county that informs and engages.
Towards the bottom of the interactive annual report you will find the 2013 consolidated financial statements that detail the budget and where the money was spent. Compared to the 2012 report, the County increased reserves by 8 million dollars, the majority of that being water and wastewater systems.
Other highlights include, Standard and Poor bond credit rating agency continued AA/stable rating for Oxford County. The rating allows Oxford County to acquire financing at a lower rate.
Director of Corporate Services Lynn Buchner is confident that the rating will improve. "In my mind I feel we have demonstrated long term stability and thats what the AA/stable means so we have shown stability over the past 2 to 3 years and I'm anticipating a positive outlook so that stable should change to positive."
The rating also gives the county an opportunity to invest directly in higher yield investment instruments such as commercial paper and asset backed securities.
