The new Woodstock City Council will be sworn in on November 23rd.
WOODSTOCK - Jerry Acchione will serve as second term as the Mayor of Woodstock.
He re-elected last night with over 6,400 ballots cast in his favour, just shy of 50 percent of the popular vote.
He was surrounded by his friends, family and supporters during his election results viewing party at the Upper Thames Brewing Company last night, but he made sure to step outside and call the Heart FM studio to chat with Dan and Marcie about the results.
He said he's excited to get to work.
"The first thing is to sit down with council. I've got it figured out already, we're going to do a Strategic Plan and we have a few new councillors so we have to get the feeling of everybody and find out what everybody wants to see so we can figure out how to get there."
Current city-county councillor Deb Tait has been elected as Woodstock's first Deputy Mayor and former United Way Oxford Executive Director Kelly Gilson will serve as a city-county councillor.
Kate Leatherbarrow and Connie Lauder have been re-elected as city councillors and they will be joined by newcomers Joe Brown and Wes Mazur. Brown is known for his involvement with the Woodstock Minor Football Association, and Mazur owns the Cheesy Cow Company on Dundas Street.
Acchione is looking forward to the next four years.
"I think this is a fantastic council! We've got some experience and we've got some new thoughts, opinions and blood. I'm really excited to explore what this brings us and over the next few months we will learn."
The new council will be sworn in on Monday, November 23rd.
