What do you do with your pumpkins and jack-o-lanterns once Halloween is over?

OXFORD - Your pumpkins could still come in handy once Halloween is over.

The Great Pumpkin Rescue has a list of several local farms that will take them for food or fodder. However, founder Bryan Smith says there are a few things you should keep in mind.

"You don't want any metals, plastics or wax in something that you're going to feed to any kind of animal human or otherwise! So you have to make sure those things are not there."

Smith says you could also try out some delicious recipes for yourself.

"You can make all sorts of baking out of any pumpkin you want. You can also make some heritage meals if you think fall might be a nice time to explore some of the old fashion cooking that we've had. On the Great Pumpkin Rescue Facebook page, we have some old recipies that the Oxford County Archives found for us!"

The Great Pumpkin Rescue starts on Sunday, November 1st and it runs until Saturday, November 7th, unless one of the farm drop off locations says other ways.

You can find a list of all of the drop off locations below:
