OXFORD COUNTY - Zero Poverty is an area that Oxford County can improve on according to Future Oxford.
Future Oxford Partnership is a group about improving the wellbeing of the county.
One of the founding members, Bryan Smith tells us that Future Oxford Partnership has three major factors they look at for making Oxford better.
"Future Oxford is an effort by the community through a consultation to identify what it is that's in this community that we love and cherish and want to keep forever and what are the things we want to improve in three domains; in our community itself, in the environment and in the economy of our area."
The group finds data on improving Oxford, their latest compared Oxford with other counties.
Randy Peltz, Chair for the Future Oxford Partnership on their data work.
"There are 72 actions approximately in the community sustainability plan and so amongst those actions we need to lay a foundation of data. What is our wellbeing in Oxford County?"
Rick Cox, member of the Future Oxford Committee says their short term plan is to help the county with their understanding of the sustainability plan.
"One of our main goals as a Future Oxford group is to help more people in Oxford understand what the sustainability plan is and how it will benefit them to get behind it and push on meeting some of the objectives. So over the next couple of months, one of our main objectives is to be as visible as we can."
They took their recent findings on a tour of county and city councils.
