It was a season of successes for the Tavistock Braves as they reached the Schmalz Cup Finals.
TAVISTOCK - It was a successful year for the Tavistock Braves.
From a 7th-place finish last season and a first-round playoff exit, they charged all the way to the Schmalz Cup Final this year. General Manager Brent Lange says it was an absolute pleasure to watch the on-ice product.
"We just had a special group, and everybody bonded together really well and would go to war for one another when they needed to, but we just had four lines of just relentless forecheck and really good power play, penalty kill, and goaltending. As I said, from top to bottom, it was a special group all year."
The Braves ultimately fell to the Fergus Whalers in the Final, but Lange says heading into next season, the team is shaping up nicely.
"We're going to have a really good group returning as well for next year. And yeah, it looks pretty promising for next year. Hopefully, we can get back and finish the job."
Lange mentions it is a quick turnaround for him and the staff as the prospect camp is being held later this month. He adds that once June 1st hits, they will be allowed to sign players to cards for the upcoming season, and he is excited about the list of prospects they have and hopes to potentially add Junior B players that might need a less hectic schedule.
