401 Lakeview continues to make headlines and opinions continue to be shared about the development.
OXFORD COUNTY - It is an issue that continues to make headlines.
The 401 Lakeview Drive development was talked about and denied once again at Woodstock City Council, but passed with Oxford County Council. Mayor of Woodstock and County Councilor, Jerry Acchione knows the Friendly City is growing and more housing is needed, but this particular piece of land in the mind of City Council is not the right fit. Acchione shares what he thinks of Oxford County Council's decision.
"In this case where it's an official plan amendment and the County certainly has the opportunity, I'll respect the democratic process even though it is not the outcome I wanted to see for sure."
Acchione says the Ontario Land Tribunal will be getting involved, and City Council will have to hire outside legal council to represent their case. City Council has the stance, the area would become over developed, and there would be no visitor parking for the new housing units.
A developer is looking to add over 250 housing units to a 10 acre property in the north end of Woodstock.
