The Province has identified 114 hot spot neighbourhoods where anyone 18 and older will be eligible for a vaccine. Also large employers will soon be able to apply for on site vaccine clinics.
ONTARIO - Premier Doug Ford announced plans to vaccinate 114 hot spot neighbourhoods in Ontario.
The hot spots are identified by postal code and people in those areas will be reached through mass immunization clinics, mobile teams and pop-up clinics. Anyone 18 and over in the hot spot regions will be eligible to be vaccinated right away.
The Province will be starting pop up clinics at high-risk congregate settings, residential buildings and faith based locations in hot spot neighbourhoods.
Large employers, including big factories will also have the option to have an onsite vaccine clinic if they meet the following criteria:
- The workplace must be located within an identified hot-spot community and have had a previous COVID-19 outbreak or is at risk of an outbreak.
- The onsite clinic will vaccinate employees that cannot work at home, many of whom reside in hot-spot areas.
- The employer will also vaccinate those in the local community, either at the onsite clinic or an alternative location in consultation with the local public health unit.
- The employer will take on the responsibility of setting up, operating and funding the onsite vaccination clinic as well as the community clinics being sponsored if not onsite.
Locally we have one hot spot region in Aylmer with the postal code N5H 2R3. Right now though Southwestern Public Health will only be vaccinating adults 50 and over in the N5H 2R3 hot spot area through a combination of mobile, physician and pharmacy sites. More information to follow when details are finalized.
