Team Canada won the gold medal in the women's long-track speedskating team pursuit competition earlier this morning.

BEIJING - Team Canada has won another gold medal at the Beijing Olympics.

Valerie Maltais, Ivanie Blondin and Isabelle Weidemann won the gold in the women's long-track speedskating team pursuit competition this morning, after one of Japan's skaters slipped and crashed on the final turn.

This is Weidemann's third Olympic medal in Beijing so far. She also won silver in the women's 5,000 metre individual event and bronze in the women's 3,000 metre individual event.

Canadian snowboarder Max Parrot also won the bronze medal in the men's big air event this morning. This is his second medal in Beijing so far after he won the gold medal in the men's slopestyle competition last week.

Team Canada has now won 17 medals at the Beijing Olympics so far; two gold, four silver and 11 bronze.

The Canadian men's hockey team will also be hitting the ice this morning for a matchup against China. The puck drop is scheduled for 8:10 a.m. Eastern Time.
