East Zorra Tavistock Councillor Jeremy Smith will be taking part in the Pan Am Torch Relay
TAVISTOCK - The Pan Am Torch will be making its way through Tavistock, and the torch bearers have been named.
East Zorra Tavistock Councillor Jeremy Smith will be proudly carrying the torch on a 250 meter segment of the Pan Am Torch relay.
"Sport has always been an important part of my life," says Smith. "My parents instilled an understanding of the benefits of participation in whatever sporting path you choose. It was the pure joy of play beyond competing, winning, and losing. It's certainly something I've worked to pass on to my children."
Smith says he has already walked his portion of the route in preparation for the event.
Ed Pellow and John Yausie will also be carrying the torch through Tavistock as part of the relay. They were selected back in April.
The Pan Am Torch will be making its way through Oxford County on Thursday June 18th. It will makes stops in Tavistock, Ingersoll, and Woodstock where celebrations are already being planned.
