Former Helicopter Pilot, Elizabeth McCormick speaks to women in Woodstock tonight

Local women are hoping to get a lift from listening to a helicopter pilot tonight.

Elizabeth McCormick, a former Black Hawk Pilot in the US Army is in Woodstock tonight to speak to a women's networking group.

Oxford Women in Networking (OWIN) is hosting McCormick at a dinner at the Quality Hotel and Suites at 6PM.

McCormick sat down with Heart FM today to talk about her personal turbulence in breaking down barriers in the army.  "When I went to the doctor to get my flight physical for my packet to go to the Pentagon, he said 'Little girl, don't you know this is hard?', and I just really felt like this is what I was supposed to do and was willing to stand up for my belief, even if no one else believed in me."

She tells Heart FM she hopes to inspire local women with her talk tonight on believing in yourself.  "I think the biggest one that we as women suffer from is that we don't have that firm belief in ourselves.  You don't have to be a helicopter pilot.  Anyone can believe in themselves and shore up their personal belief to face any obstacle that comes our way."
