Police have arrested a man who was pretending to work for a cancer foundation charity.
THAMES CENTRE - OPP have arrested a man from London for using fake cancer foundation cheques.
The man allegedly entered a grocery store in Thames Centre last week and bought two $500 gift cards. He was wearing medical scrubs and said the gift cards were being used for a fundraiser for a charity. He paid for the cards using a cancer foundation cheque.
The cheque turned out to be bogus and police were contacted. Police say the caught the man after he tried this scam again at another business in Thames Centre. 36 year old Shaun Hofmans has been charged with two counts of fraud, two counts of forged documents, two counts of disobeying a court order and three counts of breach of probation.
He has a court date set for April 29th in London.
