The Oxford Attack Under 13 Bantam Boys competitive basketball team swept their final home friendly tournament of year this past weekend. The Attack opened with a narrow hard fought victory against the Orangeville Hawks #1 team 35-32 for their first win against the Hawks in 3 tries this season. Brandon Cowan lead the Attack with 12 points and 5 assists. Quinten Quackenbush-Schneider had 5 point and 5 rebounds and went onto to lead his team in rebounds throughout the tournament. The Attack next faced the Pelham Panthers and controlled the entire game for a comfortable 38-31 win. Ethan Roberts had 4 points and 4 assists. Lucas Gagnon, playing in a brand new interior post position, netted 6 points and played solid defense. Liam Dempsey and Jacob Clark played aggressive defense on the Pelham guards throughout the game harassing them into numerous turnovers. Adam Bullen?s physical post defense and rebounding continue to improve every game. The Attack played their final game of the day against the Hamilton Wildcats #2 team whom the Attack had beaten by a single free throw earlier in the season. The Wildcats full court pressed all game long and also played a unique 1-2-2 zone defense which forced Attack guards Liam Dempsey and Cubby Dempster to help advance the ball and attack the Wildcat defense from the wing side of the court. Brandon Cowan shifted to a wing position for this game and netted 15 points; including 3 crucial second half 3-point shots to go along with 6 assists. Callaghan Bullen?s season high 16 points with help from Lucas Gagnon?s 8 points helped the Attack outlast the Wildcats for a narrow 48-46 victory. Next up for the Attack U13 boys is their final home game of the season versus Guelph CYO in Woodstock at Huron Park Secondary School on Monday March 25 at 6:50 pm.
