The U15 midget boys have a successful weekend in Milton.
MILTON -- The Oxford Attack U15 midgets captured the gold medal this past weekend at the provincial championships in Milton.
The team won 5 straight games to capture the division 13 title.
The Attack opened up with a tight 42-36 win over Fergus on Friday night and followed up on Saturday with two convincing wins over Guelph 61-21 and Markham 66-24 to take a 3-0 record into Sunday.
Sunday morning the Attack sent the division's number one seed Timmins to the bronze medal game, capturing a 54-45 win.
The gold medal game was a rematch of the Friday night game against Fergus. After holding a narrow 17-16 lead in the first half the Attack blew the game wide open in the second half as Logan Tinney buried two straight three point shots during a 16-0 run for the Attack and the eventual gold medalists cruised the rest of the way to a 56-22 victory.
Nick Keeley and Spencer Powers lead the offense throughout the weekend as they took advantage of all the zone defenses that were played against the Attack throughout the weekend. Defensively, the gold medalists used their intense pressure defense along with man to man coverage led by Joshua Flanagan who drew the assignment all weekend of covering the opponent's best players.
