Baby Alex Goes National

Alexander Fleming is featured on MADD's red ribbon marketing material.

Woodstock infant, killed by a drunk driver, is featured in MADD's national red ribbon campaign

The tragic story of an infant child who was killed in a car crash in Woodstock will make an impact from coast to coast.

Baby Alexander Fleming is being used by Mothers Against Drunk Driving in their national red ribbon campaign.

A picture of Alex and description of his life cut tragically short will be on the red ribbon campaign posters, bookmarks and campaign boxes across Canada.

His mother, Mary Rodrigues hopes his story can prevent other tragedies.  "He's made such an impact already in this community...I think having him out there will make a lot of people across the country stop and think about who they might potentially kill."

Rodrigues says when MADD asked her to use Alex's photo, she says she didn't hesitate.  "They approached me about it, about whether or not I wanted to have Alex's picture on the red ribbon campaign posters, bookmarks and coin boxes, and I said absolutely.  I didn't think twice.  I'm very proud of my boys, they give me inspiration, they give me hope.  Alex has already affected so many people, just by me talking about him.  Having him out there, in front of the country, I know that he's going to make a lot more people think and save a lot more lives."

Alex's life was cut short before he even turned 5-months old when the car he was riding in, with his entire family was hit by a drunk driver in Woodstock.  It happened Thanksgiving weekend 5-years-ago.
