Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oxford County is hosting their 5th annual Big Night Out at the end of the month, where you may dress up in your favorite Old Hollywood attire. All proceeds will go towards their 11 programs.
WOODSTOCK - Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oxford County is hosting their 5th annual Big Night Out this year at the Oxford Auditorium.
The theme for the charity ball this year will be "Old Hollywood," where you may dress in your favourite era of old Hollywood attire.
Organizer Liz Wismer-Van Meer says the event helps support all of the programs offered by BBBS of Oxford County.
"We have 11 programs that we offer and I think the thing we try and let people know is that it's 100% free for families, kids and our young people. There is nothing that they pay to be a part of it."
Last year they raised over $100,000 through the Ball and she says they are hoping to beat the total this year with their silent auction, 50/50 tickets and cash bar.
She says that all of their funding comes from these events.
"We are one of the very few agencies that do not receive ongoing government funding, we rely on grants that we receive from Chorus or United Way Oxford which are very big supporters of Big Brothers Big Sisters, but a big chunk of what we do to offer programs is through fundraising."
The event will feature live band Ferguson Drive, a DJ and a buffet dinner with a dance. Tickets cost $50.00 and all proceeds go to fund their 11 programs serving children and youth in Oxford County.
Big Night Out is on October 26th. It starts at 6:00 pm for cocktails and dinner is at 7:00 pm.
