Ethan Shelly is currently battling T-Cell Lymphoma leukaemia and he's hoping to receive birthday cards from around the world when he turns 14 next month.
DELHI - It's going to be a birthday to remember for 13-year-old Ethan Shelly of Delhi.
He was diagnosed with T-Cell Lymphoma leukaemia last year and OPP Constable Ed Sanchuk says all he wants for his birthday next month is birthday cards from around the world.
"We always here the negative stories about COVID-19, all the lockdowns happening, I want to bring some positivity to this young man and let's focus on the good. Let's give him more reason, not only to keep fighting and beat leukaemia, it's just a great opportunity to help somebody in our community and bring a smile to this young man's face."
Ethan is currently in remission as he attends intense chemotherapy sessions. His Grandma, Bridgette Homenuik, says it has been a really tough year for him but he has remained strong throughout it all.
"He was in the ICU for the first 3 weeks, his blood count was really bad, since then his journey to the hospital has been aggressive treatment. His treatment plan is for 2 years, so far he's being doing a good job of tolerating it, he has good days and bad days. He was a good hockey player since he was little and that came to a halt last year. He's not able to attend school either, he is in remission, meaning no new cells. He has a long treatment ahead of him, he's not half way through yet."
Ethan will turn 14-years-old on May 13th and you can send him a birthday card using the mailing address below:
