Bullwinkles Eatery is seeing anywhere between 85 - 115 diners a day for lunch as people from all walks of life come together
WOODSTOCK - Bullwinkles Eatery has been open for 5 weeks now and lots of people in the community are taking advantage of the donation based restaurant.
Those who dine at the restaurant located in the Woodstock Moose Lodge, can enjoy a delicious lunch on a sliding scale with a minimum donation of just $0.50. Vanessa Giuliano, the Director of Community and Family Services with the Salvation Army, says they are seeing anywhere between 85 - 115 people each day.
"That means we have had to adjust our menus a little. We have had to cook for more people which is great. Time constraints get a little hair raising in the kitchen at times but it is so nice to see the amount of people come in and enjoy the food."
Giuliano adds people have been dressing to impress while they enjoy their meal.
"We're seeing folks coming in dressing smarter, taking more pride in themselves and looking good because we have a classy establishment here. This isn't a soup kitchen it's a restaurant: it is set up like an English pub and it is a place for them to feel proud that they can come and pay for their meal."
The restaurant has not just been seeing low income families, it has also become a popular destination for business people to enjoy lunch. The menu also aims to accommodate all diets. They have vegetarian and gluten free options.
Bullwinkles Eatery is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:45 a.m - 1:30 p.m. It is recommended that if you're looking to stop by on your lunch break come around 12:30 p.m. because it can get busy when the doors open.
