Members of Unifor Local 88 are currently waiting to hear back from GM after they put out a new offer.
INGERSOLL - We have officially entered into the fifth day of the strike outside of the GM Cami Assembly Plant in Ingersoll.
Mike Van Boekel, Plant Chair for Unifor Local 88 tells Heart FM they are currently waiting to hear back from GM after they presented a new offer yesterday morning.
"We had a good meeting with Jerry Dias, our national president. We discussed different strategies and the whole entire bargaining committee came up with some ideas and we put a proposal across to GM. We are just waiting to hear back to see hopefully if it will kickstart the talks and get everybody back to the table."
Van Boekel says the unions main goal is for Cami to get preferred status when it comes to producing the Chevy Equinox.
