Canada Revenue Scam

Scammers posing as Canada Revenue officials calling residents and demanding money

NORFOLK COUNTY - The latest scam to invade the area is from a group claiming to be with the Canadian Revenue Agency.

Media Relations Officer for the Norfolk County OPP Detachment Constable Ed Sanchuk does not want you to get fooled.

''It is more of a scare tactic where they try and create anxiety.  The male states that you can take care of this by forwarding $500 immediately or they are going to contact the sheriffs office.  Bells should be going off automatically, the Canadian Revenue Agency will not call you and demand money and threaten to arrest you, they will conduct there own investigations and get in contact with you."

"If anyone receives a call indicating they are from the Canadian Revenue Agency please do not provide and personal or financial information over the phone.  Make sure that you are an informed consumer and make sure that you are an informed resident and contact the Canadian Revenue Agency as well."

This has been troubling police officers province wide but seems to be targeting elderly citizens in Norfolk County.
