CASS Students Want to Promote Live Green in Oxford County

Students from CASS have created a new design and a new slogan for the Welcome to Oxford County signs.

Students at College Avenue Secondary School want to change the signs coming into Oxford County.

They have developed a new design with a tree supporting the capital O, a small 2 beside the second O to make the Oxygen sign and adding the words "Live Green The Path Towards our Future" at the bottom. Students were inspired to do this after seeing garbage littered across the County and thought the signs are good way to encourage people to live green.

Grade 12 student Zachary Baltessen explains why they wanted to include a tree in the logo.

"It stands for our community and our environment, how we build here, our friendship and how we build without littering."

Oxford County council praised their motion and have invited the CASS students to join a committee to look at making their design a reality. Baltessen was joined in the deputation by fellow student Jill Thornton. Thornton says they are thrilled to work together with the County on this project.

"I'm really excited and I'm glad they approved it, and I'm really looking forward to working with them to help make the signs."

The students are enthusiastic about the project and our ready to help make our community a greener place to live.
