A big 50th anniversary open house will allow people to take a stroll down memory lane at East Oxford Central P. S.
People who attended East Oxford Central Public School are being invited to celebrate a very special anniversary.
In honour of the 50th year, a committee has put together an open house to let people take a stroll down memory lane.
Chair of the Anniversary Committee Shelley Buchanan says they will be showing off some of the work they have done to leave their mark on the school.
"At noon we're hoping to do an unveiling of the work we have done on the outdoor classroom. So we have been fundraising for that for a few years, so it will be nice for people to see how far it's come."
This is also a chance for people to get in touch with old classmates and remember some good times Buchanan says.
"We have yearbooks for almost all the years they had yearbooks for. We have people who have donated old textbooks, old sports uniforms, we have class lists of all the very first classes that were there in 1966. We're hoping people who come out, if they are able to attend and they were a part of those first classes - we want to have them sign their name on the class list. The other really cool thing we were able to find that they had at the school was the original guest book from when they opened the school and they had their open house in 1966. It still has space in it so we're going to use it as the guest book for the 50th anniversary as well."
They will also be holding a dance that night. Tickets are $15 each and if there are any left on the day of the open house they will be for sale at the school.
It's happening on Saturday, November 5th starting at 10 a.m.
