Zorra Township Mayor Marcus Ryan has accepted the challenge from council for the Mayor's Monarch Pledge with the Township committed to 14 action items.
ZORRA TOWNSHIP - The Mayor of Zorra Township is accepting the Monarch Challenge from council.
Marcus Ryan shared the news via social media on Earth Day.
"Council unanimously challenged me to make the Mayors Monarch Pledge and I am very happy to. This comes a few years after AJ Baker students asked for property to plant monarch weigh stations around the Township."
Ryan says Zorra is a good steward of the environment.
"As with so many other issues, Zorra speaks not only through words and commitments but through actions by doing our part. I'm happy to say that of the 29 action items possible, council chose to fulfill 14 and that other action items be considered for next years renewal pledge."
The Mayors' Monarch Pledge challenges communities to create monarch habitat and engage their residents in educational and conservation projects. You can read more about the 14 action items they will be taking in Zorra Township online here.
