41 year-old Steven Dustin made his first court appearance after being charged with second degree murder Wednesday. During the brief hearing Thursday morning, Dustin's charges were upgraded to first degree murder with no reason for the upgrade given. Dustin was arrested in connection with the suspicious death of 84 year-old, Pearl Brown at her residence on Huron Street. Woodstock Police responded to a call of collapsed woman at 58 Huron Street Tuesday evening. They found Brown deceased at the scene and deemed her death suspicious. A post mortem Wednesday confirmed her death was the result of a homicide. Dustin was arrested in the area of Rathbourne Ave and Sydenham Street, a very short distance from the scene of the crime. The accused, who does not have a lawyer at this time, was remanded into police custody and will appear in court again September 17th. According to police, Dustin and Brown were known to each other.
