Scot Bolton is extremely proud of his 18-year-old daughter Charlotte after she placed 6th in Women's F41 Shot Put and F41 Discus at the Tokyo Paralympics.

TILLSONBURG - Tillsonburg's Charlotte Bolton will be back in Canada on Friday after competing in two events at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics.

Bolton finished 6th in the Women's F41 Shot Put and F41 Discus at the games. She wasn't expected to make Team Canada and the extra year off, helped her to make the team as the youngest member of the track and field squad.

Her father Scot Bolton says Charlotte performed extremely well on the big stage.

"It was actually her second best lifetime throw in discus. Only her personal best, which was a really exceptional throw, was better in competition than what she did on the big international stage."

He adds the entire family is proud of her.

"We are really proud of what she has done in a short period of time and the pressure she sort of put on herself against much older and more experienced competition. She really held her own and we are very proud."

They had a viewing party at their home in Tillsonburg to watch the most recent competition outdoors with a few neighbours and her grandparents came down from Grand Bend.

You can listen to the entire interview with Scot below.
