If you've been waiting to donate some gently used goods, CMHA Oxford will gladly take them.
OXFORD COUNTY - The Canadian Mental Health Association of Oxford is giving you a reason to clean out your closet.
Returning for their third year the Clean Our Your Closet event is a way to give quality items you don't need anymore to families that can use them. Community Engagement Coordinator for the CHMA Oxford County branch, Kathleen Campbell-Conlon, explains what you can expect to find.. "There is going to be tons of items available: they range from clothing, shoes, utensils, pots, pans, toys and books that are in good condition. A lot of people have had this opportunity to go and be able to pick up items for their family that they maybe wouldn't have had the funds to do that during the holiday season." Donations are being accepted at the CHMA office on Peel Street until November 12 and everything left over will be donated to various charities.
The event itself will take place on November 19th at the Harvey Woods Lofts, and Campbell-Conlon spoke with Heart FM about what you can bring. "Anything really that is just in your house that you have been thinking that you have been trying to donate for awhile, well this is a great opportunity now. Everything is free on the actual day itself, and so we are looking for people to donate to the people in our community."
Campbell-Conlon is hopeful a slight change in dates will make this event even more popular. "In years past it has actually been spread out over a few days, this year it is just going to be on one day. The community has just really been helpful with us; we donate anything that has been left over to local charities that can also use those items. This year we are telling everyone that there is no limit on how many items they would like to take."
