Province Funding Oxford County Paramedics

Faster emergency care is the goal of the province, and funding is coming to Oxford County to help make that a reality.

OXFORD COUNTY - Provincial funding is coming to Oxford for faster emergency care.

This year, the County is receiving over $10,780,406 to increase the availability of paramedics and ambulances. This increase in base funding helps ensure municipalities address increased costs so they can continue to deliver high-quality emergency care. In Oxford, land ambulance funding has been increased by 14 percent. Oxford County MPP Ernie Hardeman knows this is an important area to fund.

"Access to timely emergency care can make all the difference when someone is facing a medical emergency. This investment will help ensure Oxford has the paramedics, ambulances and resources needed to respond quickly and provide care when people need it most."

The provincial government is also investing $109,200 through the Dedicated Offload Nurses Program. Hospitals in Oxford will be able to use the money to hire nurses and other eligible health professionals dedicated to offloading ambulance patients in emergency departments.

The program allows paramedics to get back out into the community faster and respond to their next 9-1-1 call sooner, and has played a significant role in reducing ambulance offload times and increasing ambulance availability for 9-1-1 patients. 

The total amount of funding for Oxford County will be $10,889,606.
