U-14 Bantams go 3-for-3 in host tournament
The Oxford Attack Under 14 Major Bantam Boys competitive basketball team swept all 3 games in a home friendly tournament over the weekend.
The Attack opened the tourney against London CYO who defeated the Attack by a single point in overtime earlier this year but this time the Attack came out on top by single point 39 – 38. Liam Dempsey passed to Callaghan Bullen on a designed in-bounds play in the dying seconds to seal the win. Lucas Gagnon had 8 points and Matthew Keith had 6 points in the thrilling victory.
The Attack next faced the Guelph CYO Knights and came away with a strong team win 58 – 38. The Attack welcomed back a few injured players this weekend and all 12 players scored in this game. Brandon Cowan led the way with 19 points. Cooper Gilson had 3 points and Zackary Dykeman netted 2 points.
The Attack’s final game resulted in the same 58 – 38 score against BC Troyka from Toronto. Callaghan Bullen erupted for 20 points to continue his solid weekend effort. Adam Bullen had 7 points and Ibrahim Taha scored 5 points. Cowan tallied a season high 12 rebounds. Cubby Dempster was perfect from the free throw line over the weekend. Quinten Quackebush-Scheider and Ben Jentz are significantly improving their help with guard play and press breaking for the Attack.
Next up for the Attack is a sanctioned tournament in Guelph next weekend.
