Today is community appreciation day for East Zorra Tavistock
HICKSON - East Zorra Tavistock Community Appreciation event is fast approaching.
The event gets underway at Hickson Park at 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. today rain or shine.
Councillor, Shirley McCall-Hanlon talks about why they have this event.
"It's an opportunity for the council and all residents to express our gratitude, our appreciation, our amazing respect for all of the volunteers we have."
McCall-Hanlon adds that the The Senior of the Year Award isn't the only exciting thing being presented.
"We're thrilled to have entertainment this year. We are going to be having the 4H square dancers. They will be coming to the event and putting on a demonstration."
Also consider attending the Hickson Lion's 5th Annual Sunday Brunch on the same day at the same place from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
There will be all you can eat scrambled eggs, pancakes, sausage, home fries, fresh fruit, coffee, tea and juice.
All proceeds from the brunch will go to the Tavistock Assistant Program to help local families in need. Pricing is as follows:
Adult - $12.00
Children 6 to 12 - $8.00
Children 5 years old and younger are free.
