This year the honour of Community Champion for Relay for Life will go to breast cancer survivor Linda Torkelson.
WOODSTOCK - The Canadian Cancer Society has announced the Woodstock Relay for Life Community Champion.
This year the honour will go to breast cancer survivor Linda Torkelson. Torkelson tells Heart FM the Relay for Life is so important because it helps to raise money for some amazing programs from the Cancer Society.
"Like the Wheels of Hope, driving cancer patients to and from their cancer appointment, the peer support program and also advocacy on the national level. It's amazing, we advocated for a smoke free workplace and we achieved that, that's a testimony of what Relay for Life is and what the Canadian Cancer Society does."
The Relay for Life in Woodstock is happening on Friday June 9th at the College Ave Secondary school from 7 pm to 1 am. They are having an information session on Wednesday May 3rd from 5:30 pm to 7 pm at the Canadian Cancer Society office on Springbank Ave in Woodstock.
