Community Employment Services Help Youths Find Jobs

Youth in the area are turning to Community Employment Services when it comes to finding a new job.

OXFORD COUNTY- Youth in the area are turning to Community Employment Services when it comes to finding a new job.

CES offers lots of programs in order to help with a job search; including the Youth Job Link and the Youth Job Connection programs for youth between the ages of 15 and 29.

Communications Assistant Liz Wismer-Van Meer says tells Heart FM Youth Job Link Program is for youth who have never been on a payroll.

"This is a first time job program. It has all kind of job ready training, all kinds of different preparation to get you ready for looking for that job and helping you pick that career path because maybe you're not really certain what your skills and qualifications will steer you towards."

Participants in the Youth Job Link program can also qualify for $300 in start up funding in order to cover the cost of training, transportation and purchasing necessary clothing.

Wismer-Van Meer says the Youth Job Connection program helps those who are currently out of work.

"This program will give you training; there's all kinds of different training programs you will go through. It also is a work placement; we'll find a placement for you in your skills set."

Those in the Youth Job Connection program will also get paid minimum wage for their time in training and in their placement. You also can not be in school, a training program or have a job if you want to participate.
