WOODSTOCK - Woodstock Hospital has state-of-the-art technology.
The CORI Surgical Robot is being used for knee replacement surgeries in the Friendly City.
Orthopedic Surgery Consultant, Dr. Stephen Petis says more surgeries are able to get completed.
"The CORI Robot is very compact and mobile. So, we've actually yesterday, were able to work between rooms very quickly, move the system over, and utilize two ORs."
Dr. Petis says it has been an exciting start so far, and patients are happy to have such cutting-edge technology.
Director of the Surgical Program, Leslie Slabon says the system makes surgeries smoother.
"It basically takes the guesswork out of doing orthopedic surgery. You ensure the patient has optimal alignment, so their mobility is better post-operatively, and the alignment of the joint is better."
Slabon adds, that Woodstock is the seventh hospital in Canada, and the second in Ontario to have the CORI Robot.
