Twelve local groups and organizations will receive a combined total of $46,700 worth of community grant funding.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock City Council has approved the fall community grants, but not before making some changes.
The original report brought to council yesterday asked them to approve $40,200 worth of grant funding for eleven different organizations.
But after further discussion council decided to remove a $4,000 grant for the Oxford Community Foundation from the list. They instead decided to add a $7,000 grant for Woodstock Minor Hockey and a $3,500 grant for Theatre Woodstock's STAGES program.
This changed the total community grant funding to $46,700 and you can find the complete list of the 12 approved recipients below:
- Operation Sharing ($10,000)
- Woodstock Minor Hockey ($7,000)
- Woodstock Curling Centre ($4,500)
- Theatre Woodstock's STAGES Youth Theatre ($3,500)
- 13th Woodstock Scouts ($3,000)
- Muslim Association of Woodstock ($3,000)
- Oxford County Community Health Centre ($3,000)
- Why Not Us ($3,000)
- Woodstock Minor Football Association ($3,000)
- Woodstock Legion Athletic Club ($2,600)
- Woodstock Dragon Boat Club ($2,100)
- Oxford Winds Community Concert Band ($2,000)
City Council approves two rounds of community grants each year; one in the spring and one in the fall. A Community Grants Committee looks over all of the applications and brings a list of proposed recipients to City Council for approval.
All of the money comes from the Gateway Casinos location in Woodstock.
