Oxford County Council will look over a contract for the Van Ave bridge construction project during this Wednesday's meeting.
OXFORD COUNTY - Oxford County Council will be asked to approve pretty big a project at their next meeting.
On Wednesday January 10th, Council will vote to approve the contract awarded for the Vansittart Ave bridge rehabilitation project. An approval would allow the project to get started next month and is expected to last a year.
The project would include the removal and the existing bridge deck, and replacing it with a wider deck that would allow for bike lanes and sidewalks.
During the construction, the southbound lane between Devonshire Ave and Tecumseh Street will be closed off, with a detour sending drivers to Oxford Road 17/Oxford Road 4 and Oxford Road 30 (11th Line). The northbound lane of the bridge will remain open, but drivers can expect significant traffic delays while the work is being done.
Once the contract is approved residents will be able to find project updates online here.
