The contract includes a six-day collection cycle for garbage and organics that would start in 2027.
OXFORD COUNTY - Oxford County Council is set to approve a waste collection contract for Emterra Environmental and it includes some big changes.
If it's approved during this Wednesday's Council meeting, the County will move to a six-day collection cycle for garbage and organics in 2027. The green bin program would start a year earlier for Woodstock in 2026.
The County would also implement a two bag limit for garbage in hopes that the green bin program would result in less trash going to the curb. Officials say organic waste makes up about 50-60 percent of the average garbage bag in Oxford.
A review of bag tags would also take place early next year. The current price has not increased in the past decade.
In terms of recycling, the province is set to take over blue bin collection for Oxford County in January 2026.
This Wednesday's Council meeting has a 9:30 a.m. start time. You can livestream the meeting online here and few the agenda online here.
