What happens when 73 residents of 28 homes line the streets? A whole lot of fun, and dancing of course.
INGERSOLL - Residents on Chisholm Drive in the Town of Ingersoll have issued a challenge to everyone in Oxford County to get into the neighbourhood spirit.
On Wednesday night, 73 residents of 28 homes lined the street had a bit of a social distancing block party. They were out in full force dancing in the streets. The viral video has captured a lot of attention online as residents grooved to the music in their laneways.
It is amazing how many people took part and busted out a move. All it took was 2 speakers and one drummer for music. Dancing in the street was the main song played, which seemed to be an appropriate theme.
Residents say it was a much needed event for the neighbourhood, and a good opportunity to chat and check up on neighbours. Now they are challenging other streets to join in the fun. Nancy Moulton posted the video on Facebook and wanted to give a couple of shout outs as well.
"Special thanks to George McMaster and Karen Quaegebeur from Ingersoll Music Academy for music and drums and Margaret Marchant, the Fluery’s, husband Don Moulton and all the residents of Chisholm Drive for helping make this event a huge success. It was great to safely socialize and visit with each other on a beautiful summer evening. The Challenge now goes out for other streets to dance or sing and show their community spirit."
