United Way Oxford is encouraging everyone to lend a helping hand to someone in need today.
OXFORD COUNTY - Local businesses will send teams of volunteers out into the community today for the Day of Caring.
Lindsay Wilson, the Community Impact and Engagement Manager with United Way Oxford, says these volunteers will help local organizations and charities with some projects that need to get done.
"It could be gardening a lot of the time or it could be painting, but we really match those corporate volunteer teams with non-profits to support each other and get that work done."
United Way Oxford has three projects scheduled for today; sending volunteers to local businesses to Indwell to do some gardening, Ingersoll Services for Seniors to repair some garden planters, and the Tillsonburg Salvation Army to sort through some donations.
Wilson is encouraging everyone to think of ways they can help someone out today.
"We also want the community at large to think about how they could have their own Day of Caring with their family or with their kids because its important for us to think about how we can be looking out for each other."
The Day of Caring is always on the first Thursday in June and this is United Way Oxford's 19th year participating. You can find more information and donate to the cause online here.
