Aspiring young police officers in Woodstock have until the end of the month to submit an application for the Youth in Policing Initiative this summer.
WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Police Service is still accepting applications for the Youth in Policing Initiative.
Community Service Officer Shaylyn Jackson says it's great for those who may be thinking about pursuing policing as a career.
"They get to learn about the different parts of the police service and get to know the ins and outs of policing. They get to participate in a lot of great opportunities and experiences and they get lots of different training."
It offers a paid summer job for high school students between the ages of 15 and 18 who live in the Friendly City.
It's also a mentorship program geared towards Youth at Risk. Jackson says it's a very broad term but essentially it's someone who may be at risk of victimization or offending based their experiences or their background.
It's an eight week program which runs from Monday July 5th to Friday August 27th and you must be available to work full time Monday to Friday.
You have until Friday April 30th at 4:00 p.m. to apply and you can find more information online here.
The Youth in Policing Initiative is a partnership with the Ministry of Youth Services and only one applicant will be accepted in Woodstock this year.
