Almost 600 students from Paris had a first hand chance to see what the Brant OPP do everyday.
PARIS - Grade 4, 5 and 6 students from Paris had a chance to get up close and personal with the OPP.
Members of the Brant OPP hosted an event called "Discover the OPP" last week at the Paris Fairgrounds. Almost 600 students were bussed into the fairgrounds to take part in the 2 hour presentation. The kids had a chance to hear from the OPP Command Staff, Bicycle patrol officers, K-9 and Emergency Response team members and members of the OPP Golden helmets precision motorcycle team.
The students got to witness live demonstrations, videos and it appears as though they had a great time learning about the different roles of the OPP. The kids were given a chance to up close to the OPP motorcycles, ATV's patrol bicycles and they had a chance to compare a 2016 Dodge police cruiser to a 1981 Plymouth cruiser.
Inspector Pete Liptrott Brant OPP Detachment Commander says the OPP would like to thank the Grand Erie District School Board and the Paris Fairgrounds for their assistance to make this event possible.
"We were glad to see such a great number of youth from our community getting an opportunity to learn more about the OPP and our specialized units while meeting some of our highly trained officers."
