First-year medical students from Western get to experience many departments of a hospital during Discovery Week.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock Hospital is hosting first-year medical students from Western.
This is all part of Discovery Week, which allows the students to shadow physicians in different departments at the hospital. There will be two separate weeks that Woodstock Hospital hosts students, with the first being this week. Jalyn Laliberte is currently at Woodstock Hospital and shares what she has experienced so far.
"I've done Peads, and I got to see the CCU, and I have enjoyed both of them so much."
Laliberte says it has been busy so far, and she was going to be in the OR today. Niko Fragis is also currently in his placement, and talks about what he has seen.
"I was in the OR yesterday, and I actually got to see a knee replacement and a hip replacement. So yeah, that was tremendous. I was in the emergency department two days ago. That was great."
Both Laliberte and Fragis will finish up their Discovery Week experience tomorrow. There will be another round of students entering Woodstock Hospital from June 1st to the 4th.
