District 2 Fire Chief Ross Pollock retired on Tuesday after 33 years working as a firefighter in the Town of Norwich.
NORWICH - The Fire Chief at Norwich Station #2 has retired.
District Chief Ross Pollock has been a firefighter in Norwich Township for 33 years, spending the last 10 as the Chief at District 2. Lead Public Fire Safety Educator Derek VanPagee says Pollock was a great guy to work for.
"He always to work together as a team as a Firefighter, within station 2, he always encouraged us to take more training, along with our fire chief, very very supportive of training, firefighter professional qualifications, those kind of things. As a team player, he was always there, he was always reaching out after a call to see how we were doing, Ross was just a gem of a person and he will be missed."
VanPagee says Pollock had a great career as a Norwich Firefighter and Chief.
"Ross has been a Firefighter for 33 years, the last 10 he has been the Chief of District 2. Ross was really looking forward to his retirement, his last day was yesterday, we wish him well. He was an absolute pleasure to work with, I think all the firefighters and people in the Township can attest to that. He was a great Fire Chief and we wish him well going into his retirement."
Pollock's last day was yesterday and a new chief Alan Berrill has been announced as his replacement.
