NASHVILLE - After a brief battle with cancer, Dolly Parton has passed away at the age of 80.
Her nephew, Bryan Seaver, shared the news in a video posted Parton's social media pages yesterday.
Parton was an iconic country music artist with several hit songs including Jolene, 9 to 5, and I Will Always Love You.
Her film credits included Steel Magnolias, Joyful Noise, and Dolly Parton's Coat of Many Colors. She also made several appearances in TV shows over the years including Reba, Hannah Montana, The Simpsons, and The Magic School Bus.
Parton was also a philanthropist and successful businesswoman with the Dollywood theme park in Smoky Mountain foothills and her education non-profit, Imagination Library, that send free books to children.
