A ceremonial cornerstone will be placed today as Dorchester looks forward to the Sifton Properties Dorchester Terrace
DORCHESTER - Dorchester is finally getting a retirement residence for people who want to spend their golden years in the community.
A special groundbreaking ceremony for the Sifton Properties Dorchester Terrace is happening on Tuesday. Vice President of Retirement Living Dale Pineau tells Heart FM the terrace will have lots of space.
"Dorchester Terrace is going to have about 90 units and that will include the sitting rooms, one bedroom with dens, and two bedroom units as well."
This is the first retirement residence in Dorchester and it is something the community has wanted for a very long time. Pineau says this is just a ceremonial ground breaking ceremony with community members and the Mayor and they likely won't be ready to house residents until the Spring of 2017.
"We're going to actually lay a little ceremonial cornerstone, which is normally done in the building process, but we are hoping to symbolically lay the cornerstone with the relationship with system properties and Dorchester going forward."
