Local Medical Officer of Health Dr. Joyce Lock says all the approved COVID-19 vaccines are safe and you should book your vaccination appointment as soon as your eligible.
OXFORD COUNTY - Southwestern Public Health has a message for vaccine shoppers.
Medical Officer of Health Dr. Joyce Lock says the best vaccine for you, is the one you can get today.
"The three vaccines that are available currently will do the job and is safe. We encourage people to get whatever vaccine is available to them, that is the best vaccine for you."
She notes local pharmacies are currently administering AstraZeneca to anyone 40 plus.
"There at least 28 pharmacies in our region delivering this vaccine to people who are over the age of 40. There is a Provincial website with a list of pharmacies participating as well as links for pre-registering yourself."
Dr. Lock says the risk of getting blood clots from a vaccine is incredibly low and the benefits of the vaccines far out weigh the risks.
