It's important to show your support in a non-judgemental way for those looking to quit smoking.
OXFORD COUNTY - Oxford County residents who register for the Driven to Quit challenge by the end of the month, have a chance to win a car.
Tobacco Coordinator for Oxford County Public Health , Gemma Urbani says this is a great incentive for people to quit smoking. "We always encourage people to try and make a quit attempt and that looks different for everyone but you are up to five times more likely to remain smoke free for good if you can quit for at least one month."
Urbani says there are a few ways to offer support to those looking to quit.
Urbani says those services could include free nicotine replacement therapy for those who are eligible. "There's a few things we look at to determine eligibility; your financial status, your ability to come to appointments to speak with a councillor, if you've tried the patch before and your level of addiction."
Urbani says entrants who remain tobacco free for the month of March are entered to win a car or cash prizes.
According to the Canadian Cancer Society, entrants who register with a support buddy will receive a secondary entry into the grand prize draw.
