Close to 50 renovated rooms will be featured on a tour of the Elm Hurst tonight. The Ingersoll mansion is celebrating 140 years, after being built back in 1872. The home was originally built by James Harris who started the Canadian commercial cheese industry. It wasn't turned into a hotel until the 80's and has since been remodeled. Employee Erin Gardiner touches on the latest upgrade. "Last fall, we renovated 47 of our 49 guest rooms. It was quite the process, several rooms every week, but we got through it." A new roof, landscaping and lavish fountain were also added under new Owner, Shmuel Farhi. The total cost of the renovations reportedly surpassed the $1-million mark. The public is invited to see the improvements at an open house tonight that runs from 6 to 9PM, including wine tasting, cooking demonstrations, and live entertainment.
