Expansion Denied

City of Woodstock releases Van Wyk farm from purchase agreement after boundary adjustment agreement with Norwich falls through

A proposed boundary adjustment between the City of Woodstock and Norwich Township is officially off the table.

City council voted to release the Van Wyk family from its Agreement of Purchase and Sale Thursday night after it became clear a deal with Norwich wouldn't be reached within their deadline.

Economic Development Officer Brad Hammond said the motion to release the Van Wyk property was a courtesy to the family as no boundary adjustments can be in an election year and a deal would have had to be made by early December in order for it to go through before 2015.

Purchasing the property would have allowed the city to expand the Patullo Ridge Business Park.
