Experience The Unique Local Businesses In Oxford

Several businesses are offering some tourism experiences in Oxford County. Among the experiences include berry picking at Berrylicious Fruit Farm in Burgessville.

OXFORD COUNTY - People are being shown a glimpse of how local businesses operate on a daily basis through tourism experiences.

Among the experiences include berry picking at Berrylicious Fruit Farm in Burgessville.

Tourism Specialist for Oxford County Meredith Maywood says they are happening throughout the summer.

"I think these are so appealing to people because everybody is looking to get a chance to make a connection. And what's happening at these experiences is you're going out and you're being brought into someone's world and you're seeing what they're passionate about, or what some of those things are that make their everyday magical."

Maywood adds these experiences are very unique and they tell a local story.

"Berrylicious Fruit Farm is offering a picking experience where they do a bit of a tasting with you so you can try the different varieties and see the difference between the berries. They show you how to pick the berries and then they send you out into the field and you get to wander through the aisles and pick a pale of berries and then settle in and have a gourmet picnic basket, and there's a picnic baskets for every type of individual."

Other businesses include Makkink Flower Farm in Tillsonburg and the Norwich Museum.

She says you can pick your own flowers at Makkink, along with being shown how to do an arrangement through a floral arrangement experience. Also, a butter churning experience is being offered at the Norwich Museum where families can churn butter in a traditional way, before placing your butter on a slice of freshly baked bread from the local bakery.

Maywood says the experiences are created by the entrepreneurs, with support provided by Tourism Oxford and Southwest Ontario Tourism.

Each participating business has a set date offered. If anyone is interested in booking their next tourism experience, more information can be found on Tourism Oxford's website.
