EZT - A co-owner of Madmash Brewery has decided to run for East Zorra-Tavistock Council.
Jon Ross has put his name forward for one of the Ward 1 council seats in the upcoming municipal election.
He would like to bring a new perspective to council chambers.
"I don't feel like there is a lot of small business representation there and with my background in technology, product management and things like that, I have some skills to offer."
Ross was born in Cornwall but he grew up in Tavistock, moving there was he was just seven years old. He has always been very passionate about his hometown community, previously running for council in 2009 and 2013.
If he's elected this fall, he would like to promote downtown revitialzation and more economic activity. He would also like to see Tavistock hosting more events.
"In Tavistock we used to have the Step Dance and Fiddle Competition but when things changed at the fairgrounds arena there, they sort of dissappeared. We also had the Airstream Club come once a year which brought a lot of economy activity to the community, but that's now gone. So I would like to see more of that kind of stuff."
The municipal election is scheduled for October 26th.
