The community is invited to participate in a Family Bike Ride in Ingersoll Sunday.
INGERSOLL -- The Ingersoll Safe Cycling Committee is looking to get families excited about cycling.
They have organized a free Family Bike Ride event for Sunday, May 25 at the Victoria Park Community Centre complete with a 5 and 10 kilometre ride route.
Family Bike Ride Chair Denise Does says there are many special events planned throughout the day.
"Before the bike ride there is a bike game for young people. Basically it's just to review rules of the road and to help them to be aware of the hazards which they might encounter. It's not just for this ride but for biking in general."
Does says the community has really rallied together to make this a really fun, free event.
"Cycle Profix, that's the company that works out of Canadian Tire, they are coming and doing free bike tune ups and just having a look at your bike and making sure that everything is okay. If you wanted to get a free bike tune up you can go out. There's going to be a tonne of free prizes given away and there is also two bike draws. Canadian Tire has donated a bike and so has Independent Grocery Store."
Does says after the ride, the Committee will be running a Bicycle Rodeo.
"The Rodeo will take place in the baseball diamond beside the Community Centre. I don't know if people are familiar with the Rodeo. We used to have them when I was a kid at my school, and it was a very fun time. You would go out and practice bike riding, and practice going in straight lines, practice your safety hand signals and just having a fun time."
Registration begins at 12:30 with rides starting at 1:30pm.
