Failing to inspect fire safety gear costs local business
A Woodstock business will forfeit $8700 after pleading guilty to fire code violations.
The owner of "One of a Kind Antiques & Collectibles" at 97 Wilson St. was fined for three violations back in May.
The charges included failing to ensure the fire alarms, fire extinguishers and water sprinkler systems were inspected and tested annually.
The fire department is serving notice to all business owners they need to have fire safety equipment inspected on a regular basis to make sure it will work if there ever is a fire.
